Discovered the Philips Hue API and have already made my life better. Now, with a single tap or voice command, my back yard in the desert is set for a perfect evening of floating in the pool.
Pool heater and pump on. Colorful pool light enabled. Motion detectors deactivated. Entire outdoor lightning system set to a dynamic, colorful palette.
@jonathan in the slim chance you haven't looked into home assistant, I 1000% suggest you do. abstracts away all the various Hue, zigbee, zwave, and countless other APIs making everything seamlessly work together. I've got voice stuff that'll fire off scenes that include hue, zwave, zigbee, govee and esp32 devices -- all just magically work together.
@jonathan I just checked; I have devices that use a total of 29 unique API/integrations.
@zebpalmer my setup is HomeKit, with both Homebridge and HomeAssistant, along with a small amount of custom code. Magic, indeed!
I’m using the Hue API to do a few things that aren’t supported by any of the standard integrations, but have it all wired up in Homebridge using custom HTTP buttons.
@jonathan I assumed you'd run across it, but every now and then I see someone talking about coding to a device API and they've never heard of home assistant (how? idk). so, I still throw it out there when I see it. :)
